JJJ > Fire Island Belle, ca. 1955. This was apparently the first purpose-built cross bay ferry, a 62' wooden boat built in 1948. It has since been decommissioned, converted into a passenger yacht and is now for sale for $59,000. This is not the new Fire Island Belle, a two-deck aluminum ferry that entered service in 2009 and caught on fire in September, 2009. (Original date was wrong, thanks for great comment from guest)
